After careful evaluation, the scientific committee of the Swiss Tourism Awards then selected the city of Koper And awarded the prize:
As the only trading port and one of the oldest cities in Slovenia, a solid history, tradition, and culture all rolled into one. At first glance, it may appear to be an everyday port city, but do not be fooled as there are a myriad of recreational areas that can make for a very rewarding vacation. Despite the various urbanized areas, Koper has managed to preserve its medieval center, which is really worth a visit.
The first stop should be the Venetian period, old town that is very similar to Piran, but provides a more realistic feel. From Titus Square, visitors can explore the Preatorian Palace, the Bell Tower and the Cathedral of the Assumption. There are also two main shopping centers and pizzerias for everyone.
