After careful evaluation, the scientific committee of the Swiss Tourism Awards then selected the city of Dabrowa Gornicza and awarded the prize:

“The World of Oaks”

Located in southern Poland, Dąbrowa Górnicza is the greenest and largest city in its host region. (188 km2). Dąbrowa has very interesting tourist spots, making it easy to spend active leisure time here. Three parks-Zielona, Podlesie, and Haller, covering a total of almost 180 hectares-are excellent places for both leisure and sports activities. “Oak World” is an outstanding program. Dąbrowa Górnicza is one of thousands of places, scattered across the Earth’s northern hemisphere, that derive their name from the oak tree (Latin “Quercus”). The idea of the “World of Oak” involves the integration of cities, businesses and organizations from Poland from all over the world around the idea of oak, a type of wood that recurs in numerous legends and is the symbol of many states. This cooperation program is based on three pillars: integration, ecology and education.

The city’s image is also shaped by the cultural events held there. Dąbrowa is an important place on the cultural map of the Dąbrowa Gornicza Basin . The Palace of Culture, an undisputed propagator of culture and artistic events in Dąbrowa, offers culture enthusiasts many initiatives and the exceptional interior of a historic building.
