After careful evaluation, the Scientific Committee of the Swiss Tourism Awards then selected the city of Alba Iulia for the cultural destination category and awarded the prize:

“Jewel of Roman Architecture, a Romanesque Miniature of Mother Rome”

One of the oldest settlements in Romania, known anciently as Apulum, its wide tree-lined streets of the Habsburg citadel, one of the most impressive in Europe, its rich historical, cultural and architectural heritage of temples, mosaics, baths and statues, amphitheaters and palaces… these are just some of the reasons why we awarded this prestigious award to Alba Iulia.
