After careful evaluation, the scientific committee of the Swiss Tourism Awards then selected the city of Mykonos awarded the prize:

“Pearl of the Cyclades, a destination with great tourism potential”

Mykonos “Pearl of the Cyclades,” this is the motivation by which the Greek island received the Swiss Tourism Award.

Belonging to the well-known archipelago, this strip of emerged land is famous for its natural landscapes that have managed to retain the charm of the past with the wonderful white sandy beaches and crystal blue sea. The landscapes with windmills, low white houses directly overlooking the sea or clinging to the hillside are simply magical, which is why thousands of tourists land on its shores at any time of the year.

It is called the island of tolerance; gay tourism until a decade ago made it a favorite destination, now joined by family tourism, making this corner of Greece a true paradise for all.
In the intricate, neat-looking alleys are hidden in every corner, hotels, restaurants and many typical locales, but Mykonos’ special feature is that it offers all kinds of entertainment: from various sporting activities such as windsurfing or sailing to the nightlife that is bustling in the island’s discos and nightclubs.
An island torn between the glories of the historical past and those of modern tourism.
