After careful evaluation, the scientific committee of the Swiss Tourism Awards then selected the City of Naples and awarded the prize:
Heritage Destination
Naples, located on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea in southern Italy, enchants visitors with its breathtaking beauty, its ancient history and its vibrant culture.
The beauty of Naples lies in its fascinating architecture, from the narrow and chaotic streets of the historic center, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The city is surrounded by beautiful natural scenery, with Vesuvius as a backdrop and the promenade that offers breathtaking panoramic views of the sea. The Bay of Naples and the easily accessible islands of Capri, Ischia and Procida are popular destinations for their coastal beauty.
The historical heritage of Naples is rich and varied. The National Archaeological Museum is an unmissable stop, housing a vast collection of Roman art and finds, including the renowned frescoes of Pompeii and Herculaneum.
The city is also famous for its culinary culture, with Neapolitan pizza, sfogliatelle and delicious pasta dishes, such as pasta alla Genovese, which represent only a small part of the rich Neapolitan culinary tradition.
