After careful evaluation, the scientific committee of the Swiss Tourism Awards then selected the city of Bogota and awarded the prize:

As a city located above sea level 8660 feet, the city of Bogota is breath taking and a must-see for night owls. It has a large area and ranked as an excellent city in terms of political, economic and cultural developments, according to the World Cities Study Group and Network from the United Kingdom in 2008. This means that a traveler can expect a world-class destination with advantageous offerings for so many urbanites to explore. A delightful contrast can be found with a frenetic balance between traditional and contemporary. Churches in the shadow of towering skyscrapers are not unusual, and tree-lined bike paths weave into local traffic wills.
