After careful evaluation, the scientific committee of the Swiss Tourism Awards then selected the city of Augustòw and awarded the prize:
Nicknamed the “Venice of the North,” Augustow, is a very surprising destination in Poland for the average traveler who is looking to experience something new. In 2009, the destination was honored with Swiss Tourism Awards as one of the best water cities. Augustow is perfect for sports with canoeing, windsurfing, water skiing and boating. Visitors to Augustów will have the opportunity to visit the Augustowski Canal, which connects the Niemen River and the Vistula River.
