After careful evaluation, the scientific committee of the Swiss Tourism Awards then selected the city of Arzachena and awarded the prize:

The municipality of Arzachena is located in the northeastern part of the
Sardinia
, in the geographical area called Gallura. The town stands on a hill rising 82 m above sea level and is about 25 kilometers from the port and airport of Olbia, on the last stretch of the Orientale Sarda, SS 125. It has a population of about 12,000 and covers 228.61 sq. km, for 86 km of coastal strip. In addition to the town of Arzachena, the territory includes numerous hamlets, including Cannigione, La Conia, Abbiadori, Porto Cervo, Baja Sardinia, Poltu Quatu, and Pevero.
